Updates of Ongoing Synthesis

During the very last few weeks of this summer, I was synthesizing two different ligands of the iron complex. The reactions were more complex than we thought. Right now I just got the first step product and the yield was pretty low. These reactions require very strict water-free and air-free conditions. I am planning to do the reactions again while make sure every piece of glassware and all solvent I use are water-free. If the second step reaction works, we will have the ligands for the final complexation reaction.

We also received another Ni complex from our collaborator. Although it uses the same ligand as the Pd catalysts, Echem shows it exhibits very different properties.  We will do more examination of the Ni complex, together with the other four Pd catalysts, during photochem.
